Meet The Team

At My Caring Vet

Alex Simon

Veterinary Surgeon & Owner

Anyone who knows Alex knows he’s happiest when he’s busy! Whether he’s in consultations, investigating complex cases or caring for inpatients, he’s dedicated to providing the very best care for every pet that walks through the door.

Alex has a particular interest in internal medicine and emergency care, and enjoys working through challenging cases, helping clients make informed decisions and building long-term relationships with the families he cares for.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys aquascaping and caring for his tropical fish, spending time with his family, travelling and always planning the next adventure!

Romina Simon

Veterinary Surgeon & Owner

Romina co-founded My Caring Vet with her husband, Alex, with the vision of creating an independent practice where pets receive personalised, high-quality veterinary care.

She particularly enjoys surgical procedures and diagnostic investigations. When she’s not in surgery or caring for patients, she’s usually behind the scenes helping to run the practice and making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Outside of work, Romina loves spending time with her two sons, two dogs, tending to her ever-growing garden, travelling and making the most of every family adventure.

Emma Copley

Veterinary Nurse Manager

I began my veterinary career in 1997 as a student veterinary nurse and qualified in 2000. My first six years post‑qualification were spent working as the sole nurse in a small branch practice, where assisted with routine surgeries, ran nurse clinics, and carried out nurse home visits. This role gave me a strong foundation in independent decision‑making, client communication, and general practice nursing.

Seeking new challenges, I moved into a surgical referral environment, where I worked for ten years alongside specialist surgeons. During this time, I completed my Advanced Nursing Diploma with a focus on surgical nursing and anaesthesia, further developing my technical skills and clinical confidence in complex procedures.

After a decade in referral practice, I transitioned into emergency and critical care. I gained my Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care and spent nine years working predominantly night shifts. This role strengthened my ability to work under pressure, manage high‑acuity cases, and provide advanced nursing care to critically ill patients.

Maree Broadhead

Veterinary Nurse

Hi, I’m Maree. I’ve been a veterinary nurse for over 20 years after gaining my honours degree at university in Gloucester. At My Caring Vet, I continue to enjoy my nursing role for both the patient and client interaction and the amazing team we have! When I’m not at work I’m looking after my lurcher Flynn and Fell pony Milly.

Siobhan Knott

Veterinary Care Assistant

Hello, I am Siobhan, a mum to two little baby girls. Previous worked in a&e nights for over 8 years but now happy to be working with a family run practice and alongside the first ever vet I worked with.

Lisa Wright

Veterinary Receptionist

I started with My Caring Vet just after it opened, it’s been great watching it grow & love working with my amazing team.

I am married with two adult children. I have lots of pets including four dogs, two cats & a pony. Recently a crazy Maine Coon kitten joined our furry family too. I think he’s going to be bigger than two of our dogs when he’s older.

I love walking, running & Tai Chi. My biggest achievements are finishing the Winter & Summer Spines. A race covering the full length of the Pennine Way (268 miles in less than a week). I am quietly thinking about my next adventure!

Erin Varney

Veterinary Receptionist

I started working at My Caring Vet in May 2026. Having previously worked in a veterinary practice, I was excited to join the team at My Caring Vet and continue doing something I enjoy.

I have two hand-reared cats called Edie and Jim, who keep me busy outside of work!

In my spare time, I volunteer as an instructor with the local marching band in Queensbury, where I teach the colour guard section.
